Licensing & guidelines

We provide licences for many different types of seabed and coastal activity.

Seabed Survey Licences enable applicants to undertake a range of small scale, temporary activities offshore, which physically interact with the seabed, for a maximum period of up to 12 months. These include for geophysical, ecological and meteorological studies, as well as larger scale archaeological projects.

Coastal Survey Licences enable applicants to undertake a range of small-scale commercial survey activities, interacting with the foreshore or seabed, usually for a period of up to 12 months. These are activities that physically interact with the nearshore and seabed of tidal rivers, estuaries and harbours within our ownership.
